Giants Add Chris Smith to Coaching Staff | Report

Smith will replace Tony Sparano, Jr as the team's assistant offensive line coach.

The New York Giants reportedly plan to hire Holy Cross offensive coordinator Chris Smith as their new assistant offensive line coach. Smith would replace Tony Sparano, Jr, who joined the Colts as their offensive line coach.

Smith just completed his first season as offensive coordinator for the Crusaders, with whom he's been for six seasons. He previously served as the offensive line coach, run game coordinator, and recruiting coordinator.

He was also part of a coaching staff that led Holy Cross to three consecutive Patriot League championships and NCAA football championship subdivision berths, including 2019, their first in ten seasons.

As the Crusaders offensive line coach, Smith helped groom several offensive linemen to achieve All-Patriot League honors, including James Murray in 2017, Brett Boddy in 2018 and 2019, Brian Foley in 2018, 2019, and Spring 2021, and Nick Olsofka in Spring 2021.

Before joining Holy Cross, Smith, a 2009 graduate of Holy Cross for whom he played center, was the offensive line coach and run game coordinator at the University of New Haven for three years.

He also spent two seasons as an offensive line coach at the University of Northern Colorado and two seasons as a graduate assistant at the University at Buffalo, where he worked with the linebackers.
