Giants Re-sign WR Darius Slayton

And just like that, the Giants wide receiver depth has been vastly replenished.

The New York Giants are bringing back a player many thought they'd move on from.

Receiver Darius Slayton, a fifth-round draft pick from 2019 who was buried so deep on the team's depth chart that he was a healthy scratch in Week 1, has re-signed with the team on a two-year deal worth $12 million, with a max value of $16.5M, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.

Slayton, who caught 46 passes for 724 yards and two touchdowns last year, reportedly drew interest from the Atlanta Falcons. But he decided to remain with the only NFL team he's ever played for, a team for whom he took a pay cut last year to be a part.

Slayton's 724 receiving yards fell just short of his career high of 740, set as a rookie. Last season was also one of his healthiest since his rookie campaign, where he also had eight receiving touchdowns.

The Giants have been busy re-building their wide receiver room, which at the start of free agency consisted of Wan'Dale Robinson, Collin Johnson, and Isaaih Hodgins. In addition to Slayton, they re-signed Sterling Shepard and have added free agents Jeff Smith and Parris Campbell.

They might not be done yet either, as the Giants could look to add to the group in next month's draft, though now it might seem that the chances of the Giants' first-round pick being a receiver have diminished.
