The Giants announced the signing of Chandler Catanzaro, a six-year veteran who retire last August after last playing for the Jets.

Catanzaro, 29, becomes the leading contender to replace Aldrick Rosas, the kicker the previous three seasons who was released earlier this week.

In 77 regular-season games, he has made 119 of 142 field-goal attempts (83.8%) with a long of 60 yards. He also connected on 10 of 16 attempts from 50+ yards (62.5%), and has converted 182 of 196 extra-point tries (92.9%) bringing his career scoring total to 539 career points.

In addition, he has touchbacks on 236 of 387 kickoffs (61.2%).
