Lose to the Jets?

Seriously, lose to the Jets?

But yes, that's what the Giants did last week and as a result, they have dropped to 30th in the weekly SI.com NFL Power Rankings for Week 11. That ranking represents a three-spot drop for the 2-8 Giants, who are in the midst of a six-game losing streak as they enter the bye.

Here is what the MMQB voting panel had to say about the Giants' continued fall from grace:

A six-game slide into the abyss concluded with the game the Giants couldn’t lose but did anyway. Something’s up with Saquon Barkley (one yard on 13 carries), and the bye comes a few weeks too late for a team battling a cornucopia of injuries.

Injuries haven't helped the Giants nor did the rather embarrassing fact that the Jets were able to hold Giants running back Saquon Barkley to ONE YARD RUSHING on 13 carries.

Injuries to center Jon Halapio and right tackle Mike Remmers forced the Giants to go to their top reserves, but then during the game, left tackle Nate Solder suffered a concussion which really left the Giants scrambling, and it showed.

But it was the loss to the Jets that will leave a bitter taste in the team's moths for a long time. This was a Jets team that lost to a tanking Dolphins team the win before (but which had also beaten a Cowboys team that in turn had beaten the Giants on Monday Night Football).

What was once a promising season now looks to be all but assuredly over as the Giants are likely to turn more to those untested younger players once they return from the bye week.

That's not to say everything has been negative. Rookie quarterback Daniel Jones made some big plays against the Jets, throwing for four touchdowns while showing great chemistry with fellow rookie wide receiver Darius Slayton. Golden Tate also balled out with two touchdown receptions.

Still, there is no hiding from the record, and the ranking reflects just how far the Giants have fallen. If the Giants want to increase their standings, they can start by winning some of these games they're supposed to win, such as at least one of the two games against the Eagles, and the games against Miami and Washington.
