Jamal Adams answered plenty of questions and proved why he is not just the best player on the New York Jets roster but also is invaluable to this team in keying his team's Sunday win over the New York Giants

It was a banner afternoon from Adams who had nine tackles, two sacks, one pass defended and two quarterback hits in the Jets 34-27 win over the Giants. He was all over the field, coming on the heels of last week’s disappointing performance in a loss at the Miami Dolphins

And it was an increasingly frustrating game in Miami from Adams considering his poor response to trade rumors earlier last week, a response that led to negative feedback from the media and fans. All that is in the past as Adams proved why the Jets are fortunate to have the Pro Bowl safety in their backend as he shone in a win that lifts the Jets to 2-7 on the year.

No moment from Adams stuck out more than after halftime.

On the Giants first possession of the second half, Adams stripped the ball from Daniel Jones, taking the ball straight out of the quarterback’s arms and running 25 yards for what would become a (short-lived) 21-13 Jets lead. The ball didn’t even tough the ground, it was simple coordination and brute strength that led to the strip.

“That was a really good play, the way he was able to get in there and strip it away from him and go score,” Jets quarterback Sam Darnold said after the game.

“That’s a play only special players can make.”

Jets head coach Adam Gase, who hasn’t always sounded like he’s approved of how Adams handled the response to the trade rumors from two weeks ago, was simple but accurate in his assessment of the safety’s performance in the Jets win.

“He was doing what he always does, he gives everything he has from the start to the end,” Gase said.

“It was great to see him really impact the game the way he did, especially coming out in the first half.”

Perhaps most remarkable is that before that drive, Adams told Gase that he was going to make a big play. And then he showed up and did just that.

“He said he was going to do it before he went out there,” Gase said.

“I just saw him in the endzone and said, ‘Well, I guess he was right.’ He was talking on the sidelines like ‘I’m going to make a turnover. I’m going to get a turnover,’ He was right.”
