WATCH: Jets GM Joe Douglas bolsters front office with three key additions

Douglas selected the right-hand men for his staff

Joe Douglas made some major front office moves on Tuesday.

The new Jets GM hired Colts VP of Player Personnel Rex Hogan as assistant GM according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Douglas also hired Ravens Assistant Director of Pro Personnel Chad Alexander as director of player personnel and former Browns GM Phil Savage in an undisclosed role, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Hogan previously worked for the Jets from 2015-2017 as the director of college scouting under Mike Maccagnan. Hogan previously spent 12 years as a college and national scout for the Bears from 2003-15.

Before joining the Jets, Alexander recently earned a promotion from the Ravens last month. Alexander was with the Ravens the last 20 years and has plenty of experience as a scout.

Douglas has previous experience with Alexander and Savage from his time with the Ravens.

Douglas was a scout for the Ravens while Savage served as director of college scouting and director of player personnel. Savage then went on to become the Browns' GM from 2005-2008. However, a 24-40 record in that time resulted in him being fired.

Savage then joined the Eagles in a lesser role from 2010-2012, followed by a six-year stint as executive director of the Senior Bowl and most recently GM of the now defunct AAF's Arizona Hotshots.

Bears executive Champ Kelly, who interviewed for the Jets' GM position, was considered to be the favorite as Douglas' right-hand man. Instead, it's Hogan who will serve as the No. 2 man in the Jets' front office.

Tuesday marked a key day for Douglas and the Jets in terms of acquiring experienced three personnel staffers. Now that Douglas has his front office staff in place, they can get to work on the task at hand of transforming the Jets into a championship contender for years to come.
