Buy or Sell - Running back Kerryon Johnson needs more carries
In his second NFL season and with a new offensive coordinator (Darrell Bevell), running back Kerryon Johnson has a great shot of being a potent offensive weapon for the Lions. And supporters of his have lofty expectations regarding what he can accomplish this season.
Many were hoping Johnson would take on a feature role in the backfield, especially after the organization decided to part ways with veteran running back Theo Riddick.
It appears as though the Lions have different plans, though.
The running back-by-committee approach was evident Sunday, as Johnson and C.J. Anderson were utilized pretty evenly against the Arizona Cardinals.
After reviewing the film, Johnson had 13 rushing attempts. Meanwhile, 11 carries were counted for Anderson heading into Detroit's final offensive drive.
The Lions' struggles offensively, including their difficulty in accumulating first downs in the second half, may have been alleviated if Johnson would have been given an increased workload in both the rushing and passing game.
