Buy or Sell: Lions Should Trade Darius Slay

Should the Lions trade shutdown corner Darius Slay?

Is Darius Slay, the Lions' best cover cornerback, happy in Detroit?

For starters, Slay is in search of a new, long-term contract.

The earliest sign that he may not have been happy with his perceived value came when he avoided the Lions this past offseason.

He did not participate in early parts of the offseason program, and was not around for mandatory minicamp.

After this season, he has one year remaining on a four-year, $48 million contract. He is due to make $12.55 million this year and $10 million next season.

There's also a new variable that's been thrown into the equation.

The Lions traded Quandre Diggs, a defensive captain, on Tuesday to the Seattle Seahawks.

It was a stunning move from Lions general manager Bob Quinn, and it left many of Diggs' former teammates unhappy, including Slay.

This could be viewed as a sign that Slay is unsupportive of the present Lions regime.

And the Lions arguably could receive solid compensation for "Big Play" Slay, who's a highly-respected corner throughout the league.

So, if you were Quinn and the Lions, would you trade him before the Oct. 29 NFL trade deadline?
