GREEN BAY, Wis. – Davante Adams admittedly was trolling fans by tweeting he was house shopping – an obvious nod to Aaron Rodgers telling a golf fan that Adams should buy him a house as part of reuniting All-Pro receiver and legendary quarterback.

But there was no trolling anyone when Adams was asked after the Pro Bowl on Sunday in Las Vegas whether he was trying to recruit the longtime Green Bay Packers star to be his new quarterback with the Las Vegas Raiders.

“Duh,” Adams told NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe after Sunday’s NFL Pro Bowl. “Why would anybody not do that? I mean, 100 percent. That’s my guy, obviously. And wishful thinking but we’ll see what happens.”

Adams’ recruiting pitch is as simple as can be.

“That I’m here,” Adams said. “I think it’s a pretty good one.”

A great one, actually, because Rodgers and Adams made magic in Green Bay.

During their final season together in 2021, Adams set Packers records with 123 receptions for 1,553 yards. Eight of his 11 touchdowns came during the final seven games, when the offense took flight after a relatively sluggish start.

Everyone in the stadium knew where Rodgers wanted to throw the football and it rarely mattered. According to Pro Football Focus, 91 receivers were targeted at least 49 times. Adams ranked 13th in catch rate, third in yards per route (2.92) and 15th in passer rating (114.5).

“I told him in the locker room, the thing that I will miss 20 years down the line is moments where you make a subtle adjustment, you look over at the guy and it’s a stud like ‘17’ and he just went like this (head nod),” Rodgers said after a victory at Chicago that was highlighted by a key 41-yard pass. “Like the whole body started tingling. I just knew it was going to be one of those special plays.”

In March, Adams was traded to the Raiders for first- and second-round picks. Nobody won the trade. The Raiders failed to reach the playoffs and Adams’ longtime friend, quarterback Derek Carr, was benched and will be traded.

With Adams, the Packers were coming off an unprecedented three consecutive seasons of 13 regular-season victories. Without him, they plunged to 8-9 and also missed the playoffs in 2022.

The Raiders need a quarterback, and the Packers and Rodgers might be ready for a fresh start.

“Would I be interested in having Aaron Rodgers throw to me?” Adams told reporters after the game. “Yes. I would love that.

“The [social-media] trolling – I’m first-team all-troll so don’t take none of that too serious but I would love to have that and, obviously, that would be a dream scenario (and) one that I’m very familiar with. But anything you see on Twitter, that’s not a tell of anything. That’s just wishful thinking.”

Adams has expressed his desire to Raiders management.

“A million percent,” Adams said. “A hundred percent, that’s exactly what I’m trying to portray. It’s a lot of conversations to be had still in the near future. We’ll see what happens but that’s obviously something that I would go in there and talk about.”

Asked if he’s discussed his desires with Rodgers, Adams said, “We’ll keep that behind closed doors.”

Rodgers and his PGA Tour partner on Sunday won the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. While on the course, a fan told Rodgers that Adams “is looking for a neighbor.”

Rodgers replied: “Tell him to buy me a house. He’s got that money now.”

The Raiders are the new betting favorite to be Rodgers’ next team.
