The rematch of Super Bowl LII hasn't gotten off to the hottest start as both teams struggled to get anything going in the first half.

The Philadelphia Eagles received the opening kickoff and quickly got to the New England Patriots' side of the field due to a defensive pass interference call against Jason McCourty. After not capitalizing on their solid field position, the home team settled for three as Jake Elliot kicked a 42-yard field goal, giving the Eagles a 3-0 lead early in the first quarter.

The two teams then exchanged three straight punts before the Eagles scored the first touchdown of the game. Philadelphia marched 95 yards on 16 plays leading to a Carson Wentz touchdown pass to Dallas Goedert. The five-yard score put the Eagles up 10-0. On the Patriots ensuing drive, a 59 yard march ended with Nick Folk kicking a 35-yard field goal to make the score 10-3.

Later in the second quarter, the Patriots put together an 11-play drive, getting to the Philadelphia four-yard line. A third down incompletion forced the Patriots to take another field goal, as Folk put the 22-yard kick through the uprights, cutting the Eagles lead to 10-6.

The Eagles next drive ended in a Wentz fumble that was recovered by New England's Danny Shelton. Starting at the Philadelphia 22-yard line, the Patriots went three-and-out, leading to yet another field goal by Folk, this time a 39-yard boot, cutting the Eagles lead to 10-9.

Philadelphia was marching down the field with seconds remaining in the half, but a sack followed by a fumbled snap and another sack stalled Wentz and the Eagles offense.

The Patriots are set to receive the 2nd half kickoff.
