On Monday, the New England Patriots re-signed veteran tight end Benjamin Watson, which brought into question how the remainder of the tight end depth chart would shake up in New England following the acquisition. NFL Network's Michael Giardi reported Monday afternoon that Matt LaCosse, who the Patriots signed this offseason, suffered an MCL sprain last Thursday night against the New York Giants and is expected to miss at least a few weeks.

Injuries in 2019 have caused LaCosse to miss two regular season games along with some time in the preseason as well. Since Week 1, LaCosse has accumulated three receptions for 55 yards. His role within the Patriots offense will take a massive hit going forward now that Watson is back in New England.
