Tom Brady is Oldest NFL Player to Rush for Multiple Touchdowns in a Single Game
Along with claiming the No. 2 spots on the NFL's all-time passing yards and completions list, surpassing Peyton Manning on both, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady now has a rushing milestone to add to his belt.
Brady's two rushing touchdowns against the New York Giants Thursday makes the 42 year old the oldest player to have multiple rushing TDs in a single game in NFL history, per ESPN's Stats & Info.
The record was formerly held by former Patriots QB Doug Flutie, who had a multi-rushing touchdown performance at 41 years, 17 days old on Nov. 3, 2003.
While getting this accolade is nice, the reasoning that Brady had to take it upon himself to score on those plays is telling of how poorly the run game and offensive line have been in goal-to-go/short yardage situations for the Patriots. They had two failed fourth down attempts, and struggled with Sony Michel in the aforementioned situations time after time Thursday night.
While putting points on the board is the No. 1 for the offense, keeping their QB healthy has to be 1B. They are playing with fire if they continue to rely on Brady in those situations. But for now - it's good to see Brady reel in yet another record.
