WR Adam Humphries says Tom Brady's age deterred him from signing with Patriots

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Everyone in New England wants to believe that Tom Brady well into his mid-40's. But that doesn't mean everyone outside of the northeast corner of the U.S. have to believe that as well, especially NFL players who could potentially sign with New England.

Titans receiver Adam Humphries, who signed with Tennessee this offseason during free agency, wasn't sold on the notion that if he signed with New England that Brady would be throwing him passes during his entire tenure with the Patriots. That is why he decided to not sign with New England.

Here is what Humphries had to say during a conversation with The Athletic's Travis Haney.

"Obviously he's the G.O.A.T. That's that simple," Humphries said of Brady. "But there's so much that factors into that decision. It was a four-year deal. Who knows how many (years) he's got left? There's a lot that goes into that.

"Obviously the chance to play with him would have been awesome, but a lot of things factor into that decision. Ultimately, I thought this was coming here to a team that was on the rise and with young talent on the offense and a really good defense."

Is Humphries the only player that has been deterred from joining the Patriots' offense because of Brady's age? Who knows.

What we do know is that Humphries was a coveted prospect by New England during free agency, but Mike Vrabel and the Titans managed to sign him even though they offered him less money. It seems that Humphries isn't comfortable with New England's plan for the post-Brady era.

Even though Brady will most likely outlast both Mariota and Tannehill's tenures on the Titans

I’d take a 50 year old Brady over most other QB’s right now....
