The Oakland Raiders traded starting cornerback Gareon Conley to the Houston Texans on Monday for a third-round draft choice in 2020, according the multiple media reports.

Raiders Coach Jon Gruden confirmed the deal when he met with the media in the afternoon.

"We did trade Gareon Conley to the Houston Texans," Gruden said. " ... We wish Gareon the best."

The 6-foot, 195-pound Conley was selected by the Raiders in the first round (No. 24 overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft, but was disappointing in his rookie season and early last year before playing well in the second half.

There were reports before the 2018 trade deadline that Conley would be dealt away, but that didn’t happen and he seemed to establish himself as one of the better young cornerbacks in the league.

However, quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers picked on Conley consistently in the Raiders’ 42-24 loss on Sunday at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis., where he had perhaps the worst game of this pro career.

The 24-year-old Conley made 61 total tackles in his two-plus seasons with the Raiders, plus 18 pass breakups and four interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

Conley started 20 of 23 games in his career, including all six this season. He played well in coverage last year, but surrendered 18 catches and four touchdowns over 26 targets this season, according to Pro Football Focus.
