Answering Your Las Vegas Raiders Email Questions

The Las Vegas Raiders fan base has many questions this off-season, which is why each week, I answer them in our weekly mailbag article.

HENDERSON, Nev.--The Las Vegas Raiders are blessed with some of the most devoted fans in the professional sports world.

That is why each week, we take time to answer your questions and emails, so let's get right to it.

Hondo, I beg you to please update your odds and let us know have the Raiders have entered trade talks yet with the Green Bay Packers. --Calvin R.

First, I have spoken to multiple sources, and yes, the Raiders and the Packers have "spoken." However, I would caution you by saying, according to one NFL team executive: "I wouldn't call them trade talks. People are waiting to hear from Aaron, and once Aaron makes his plans known to the Packers, if and when he says trade me, then the Packers will reach back out to the Raiders, and it will proceed."

The Raiders can't and won't tamper with Aaron, who is under contract with the Packers. For now, they wait.

I can tell you this: The Raiders want Rodgers, but he has to want them, so compensation must be worked out in a way that makes sense. There are many moving parts; it isn't done or even close, and nothing happens until Aaron decides.

As far as odds, here we go.

If Aaron wants the Raiders, and the Packers are reasonable in their request for compensation, he will be the Raiders quarterback in 2023.

So, based on the above paragraph being in alignment:

100% Aaron Rodgers.

If Aaron doesn't want to be here, or if the Packers' request for compensation is too high is the only way it won't happen.

Jimmy Garoppolo 50%

Rookie 50%

Hondo, since this is the season of "IF's" if the Raiders do trade for Rogers and CJ Stroud falls to No. 7, should the Raiders pick him or trade out and pick up more picks? --Jamie V.

My opinion doesn't matter, but I would say this since you asked. If you bring in Aaron Rodgers, it is to win right now. So, if you get Aaron, I would not take Stroud.

You are paying a hellacious amount for Rodgers; you must move all in to win now.

Now you use the word "Should" to me; if you wanted to move on from Derek, it should have been for a rookie you are convinced about and could sell Adams on.

Hondo, Thank you for all the outstanding effort you put into your work; it shows. I have been wondering: Would we consider trading Derek straight up for Mac Jones? It seems like a great opportunity for both players, but what do I know? --Robert K.

I believe the Raiders would jump at that deal, but the Patriots believe in Jones, who is younger than Carr, and I don't see that happening on the Patriots' end.

Hondo, I love to read your work for one big reason, I think you tell the truth, but I can tell you genuinely like Derek Carr, Mark Davis, Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler. I don't get the vibe that you are a mouthpiece for anyone and don't have an axe to grind; that is excellent journalism. So I ask this: is that an embarrassment to the organization if the Raiders swing and miss on Rodgers, and we know they lost out on Tom Brady? Who? --Nick K.

First, Nick, let me thank you for one of the kindest compliments you can give a journalist. I do genuinely like all of the parties involved.

If they miss out on Rodgers and Brady, I believe it would be and should be embarrassing for the franchise. You are the Las Vegas Raiders, you aren't the bridesmaid, just grateful to have a date, and you are the bride. You are the elite franchise, despite struggling as of late, and to have moved on from a quarterback like Derek, so well respected around the NFL and making it clear you wanted a veteran, and the only two guys who are legitimately better than him you missed on, that is embarrassing.

I am not making a choice, but I think Rodgers is a big mistake. If they were to miss out on him and find a rookie quarterback they love and land him, that would be a silver lining.

Hondo, you have written about the baggage of Aaron Rodgers, but when someone on Twitter posted you up for not liking him, you bristled at that. Could you clear that up? --Kelsie H.

I will be doing a podcast next week on the pros and cons of adding Rodgers, and I intend to go into great detail about it all.

Now from this week's hate Hondo file:

You are the worst journalist in the world. Take the Bible scripture off of your Twitter. Your hatred of Derek Carr, an anointed man of God, precludes you from any relationship with Christ. --Gary N.

Every day when I open your website and have to read you, I want to puke. You are nothing more than the Derek Carr lap dog and a disgrace. You hate the Raiders, and I hate you. Please do us a favor and choke on a hot dog watching a Batman movie (Michael Keaton sucked, you dumb a**.) --Neal D.

Hey Fat F**k, your only redeeming quality is when I open your Twitter and see a picture of your hot wife. All you do is spew whatever Josh McDaniels tells you, and it is clear he is sabotaging the Raiders, and you are helping him. F**K you. --Daniel A.

I agree; my wife is beautiful, inside and out. Thank you for the kind words about her. I know she appreciates them, and I agree.
