Answering Your Las Vegas Raiders Question, Emails:  Week 9

Sports Illustrated's Raider Maven published Hondo Carpenter takes time to answer your Las Vegas Raiders questions and emails.

Henderson, Nev. -- Each week, Sports Illustrated's Raider Maven takes time to answer some of your Las Vegas Raiders questions and emails.  So let's dig right in.

Hondo, do you think Johnathan Abram and Bryan Edwards both play on Sunday?  I think that is a very big deal.  --Rachel Ramon

Yes.  Both practiced today and I expect them both to play if there are no additional setbacks.

Hondo, why does the NFL hate the Raiders?  Al is gone.  These fines for COVID are so absurd.  --Michael Clifford

I do believe that there are those in the league who do not like the Raiders for past issues.  I do not think it is all of the league offices at all.  In fact, I have friends who work there, one of who happens to be a Raider diehard.  As far as the COVID fines, the NFL and the NFLPA negotiated the rules.  Agree or disagree, they know them.  They broke them and you pay the price.

Hondo, am  I wrong in assuming the Jeff Heath injury really hurt.  What do you know about his return?  --Steve Lopez

I 100 percent agree, Steve.  It has really hurt.  Today was the first time he practiced all week.  He was limited in what he did, but I think it is 50/50 that he plays.  He is a very under-appreciated player.

Hondo, what are the odds that we get Arden Key and Maurice Hurst back this week?  We need them badly on our defensive line.  Thanks for all the great Raiders work.  Just since you got here, you are my favorite reporter.  --Ken Leger

Thank you for the kind words, Ken.  Neither one is playing this weekend.  They are officially out.

Hondo, I was officially a Derek Carr critic until you.  I love that you talked many of us off the ledge with facts.  I think he has a shot, not just statistically, but actually, to be our best quarterback ever.  Would you agree?  The fact I even think that is a miracle.  --Matthew Harrison

Statistically, he is already or nearly there.  But to be the best ever, with this franchise and it's storied past, he has to win a Super Bowl.  If he does, then yes, I think he will be that.
