Rams Tap Wisconsin Pipeline, Add OL Help in Latest Mock Draft
At their Super Bowl parade last February several members of the Los Angeles Rams, from Sean McVay to Aaron Donald, vowed to "run it back" in hopes of repeating as champions.
Well, it is safe to say that did not happen. Instead, the Rams went a disappointing 5-12 and were nowhere near the same team that hoisted the Lombardi Trophy the year before.
Now they have multiple areas of need to address if they want to compete in the NFC again, but perhaps none more pressing than the offensive line.
As such, in The San Diego Union-Tribune's latest mock draft, they give the Rams their much-needed help in the trenches.
Rd. 2 No. 37 - Joe Tippman - OL (Wisconsin
The Rams started 12 different players up front in their failure to run it back. Tippman played exclusively at center his last two seasons in Madison, but his size (6-6, 315) and athleticism translates to anywhere on the interior — he’s a heat-seeking missile when asked to pull.
Should the Rams draft Tippman with the No. 37 pick, he would become the fourth Wisconsin offensive lineman on the team - joining Rob Havenstein, David Edwards and their first pick in the 2022 draft, Logan Bruss.
When healthy the Rams can compete with the best in the NFL. However, last season showed that their offensive line needs all the depth it can get.
With limited draft capital, don't be surprised if someone like Tippman is the pick for the Rams when their name is called in April.
