Lamar Jackson Out, Replaced by Ravens Signing Giants QB Daniel Jones?

If the Baltimore Ravens don't retain quarterback Lamar Jackson, they could go out and sign another former first-round pick.

Contract negotiations continue to drag on between the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson as the franchise tag deadline is open and will run through March 7th. With reports of Jackson and the Ravens being $100 million apart in negotiations, it seems the likely remedy will be a trade.

But there is another scenario detailed by CBS Sports, where the Ravens use the non-exclusive tag on Jackson, allowing him to negotiate a contract with other teams. The only caveat of signing Jackson would be that they'd have to give up two first-round picks to the Ravens, in addition to signing the quarterback to what expects to be a mega-deal.

If the Ravens let Jackson go, what would they do at quarterback?

Well, CBS Sports believes that current New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones would be a "logical fit" for the Ravens due to their heavy run scheme, which may change slightly with the hiring of offensive coordinator Todd Monken

CBS points to the Giants' playoff win in 2022 as evidence that Jones improved from his first three seasons in the league. Under the guidance of first-year head coach Brian Daboll, Jones threw for 3,205 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions while rushing for over 700 yards and seven touchdowns.

Despite never living up to the expectation through his first three seasons as the No. 6 overall pick, it may be fair to say that Jones overachieved in 2022 with a Giants team that wasn't as talented on paper as others in the playoffs.
