Ravens Trade Kicker Kaare Vedvik To Vikings

The Baltimore Ravens traded kicker Kaare Vedvik to the Minnesota Vikings for an undisclosed draft pick Aug. 11.

Adam Schefter, of ESPN, said the Ravens received a 2020 fifth-round selection for Vedvik, but the team officials did not confirm that report.

Vedvik has made 12 of 13 field-goals attempts over two preseasons in Baltimore after being signed as an undrafted free agent in 2018. Vedvik is also a capable punter and could save the Vikings a roster spot if he performs both duties effectively.

In the 2019 preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Norwegian converted all four of his field-goal attempts (29, 26, 55, 45 yards). Vedvik also averaged 55.5 yards on two punts.

It was a shrewd move by the Ravens because Vedvik was not going to beat out incumbent Justin Tucker, who is one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history, or long-time punter Sam Koch.
