Haskins to Start for the Rest of 2019
It's now official. The Redskins and Bill Callahan are doing what makes the most sense in 2019, a year that is completely lost and they're going with rookie Dwayne Haskins at quarterback.
Callahan made the announcement at a sparsely attended press conference on Monday at Redskins Park, as the team returned from their bye weekend.
I have to admit. I was surprised that Haskins was named the starter for the rest of the season. Everyone thought that it was likely he would be the starter against the Jets.
There was a chance that Callahan, an old-school coach, who is presumably fighting to become the permanent head coach, could have flipped the script and reverted back to Case Keenum, but clearly, that did not happen.
Case Keenum will be the backup quarterback, while Colt McCoy will be inactive.
Callahan confirmed that Derrius Guice will be active but a role and number of carries has not been defined yet.
He also confirmed the obvious that Adrian Peterson will stay active. As he should.
