METAIRIE, La. — New Orleans Saints defensive linemen Sheldon Rankins and Mario Edwards Jr. will not play Monday against the Houston Texans and linebacker Craig Robertson is listed as questionable.

Robertson (hamstring) was a limited practice participant all three days the Saints were required to issue a team injury report. He has not played since the second preseason game against the Chargers.

Rankins (Achilles) also was a limited practice participant during the week. He is not expected back for a game until sometime after the opener. Rankins returned to practice two weeks ago in his rehabilitation from an Achilles injury in the divisional playoff game against the Eagles in January.

Edwards (hamstring) did not practice during the week. He has been absent from practice since the second preseason game against the Chargers.

The Saints will enter the opener with three defensive tackles. The team added veteran Malcom Brown from the New England Patriots in the offseason. Second-year player Taylor Stallworth and rookie Shy Tuttle came to the Saints as undrafted rookies, Stallworth in 2018 and Tuttle in 2019.
