Jeff Duncan of Nola.com reports that the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Chargers are expected to hold joint practices this preseason.

Unofficially, the Chargers will host the Saints in the league's second week of preseason games to be scheduled between August 17-20. The joint practices would be conducted prior to that game and held at the Chargers training facility.

Official NFL schedules for preseason and regular season games will not be released until May. The NFL must also approve joint practices between squads.

If approved, teams usually engage in 2-3 joint practices before taking a day off prior to preseason contests. Joint practices have become more popular across the league over the last decade and are often open to the public.

This would be the fourth time that the Saints and Chargers would hold joint practices against each other. The other times occurred in 2017, 2018, and 2019. New Orleans has also conducted joint ventures against the New England Patriots, Houston Texans, and Green Bay Packers over the years.

New Orleans hosted the Chargers in the 2022 preseason finale for both teams. The Chargers are coming off a 10-7 season and an AFC playoff berth. New Orleans was 7-10 in 2022, missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year.
