Seahawks Mock Draft: Seattle Makes 'Safe' Pick at No. 5?

The Seattle Seahawks hold the fifth overall pick and in the latest Mock Draft, it has Pete Carroll's team adding defensive firepower.

The Seattle Seahawks have made several moves to shore up the defensive line, while also bringing veteran All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner back home.

With the NFL Draft fast approaching, many wonder where coach Pete Carroll and the Seattle front office will go with the fifth overall pick.

CBS Sports' latest Mock Draft has Seattle adding some serious defensive firepower in the form of Texas Tech standout EDGE Tyree Wilson. The 6-6, 271-pound game-wrecker could be a valuable addition to a Seahawks defense that finished eighth in sacks last season with 45.

"The more you watch of Wilson the more you love his game CBS Sports writes. Not only what he put on tape at Texas Tech but his upside 2-3 years down the road. He's long, has the frame to add weight if needed, and he's a dominant, high-motor pass rusher who can take over games."

Wilson's last two seasons for Texas Tech have seen him post career numbers that have seen him record 14 sacks, 27.5 tackles for loss, 60 solo tackles, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

That'll work.

Given his size, Wilson has the ability to not be deterred by chip blocks, and perhaps one of his underrated qualities is his ability against the run, something that Seattle had trouble with last season as it ranked the third worst in the NFL (150.2 yards per game).

Once Wilson gets his feet underneath him and is used to the rigors of NFL football, he could become a valuable contributor to this new-look Seahawks defense under Clint Hurtt.
