Safety First: Seahawks Hosting Top 10 Secondary Draft Prospect

Despite being projected as a late-round pick, Jordan Howden will visit with the Seattle Seahawks.

No way around it, the Seattle Seahawks must rebuild their defensive line.

But while they're at it, nothing against making one of the team's strongest positions even stronger, right?

To that end, the Seahawks are hosting a safety - yes, a safety - as one of their official Top 30 draft visits. Minnesota's Jordan Howden is scheduled to meet with Seattle.

After a productive - but certainly not star-studded - college career in which he totaled 168 tackles and four interceptions, Howden is projected to be a late-round pick at best. At the NFL Scouting Combine, he measured 6-foot, 203 pounds, ran a 4.49 40-yard dash and bench-pressed 225 pounds 14 times.

At the back end of Pete Carroll's secondary the Seahawks, of course, already boast  veterans Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs, along with newly signed Julian Love and recently tendering a contract offer to Ryan Neal.

The Seahawks did lose a member of their secondary when Johnathan Abram signed this week with the New Orleans Saints.

But there is no denying their apparent interest in the position ahead of the draft. Along with hosting Howden, Seattle has already met with J.L. Skinner (Boise State) and Jammie Robinson (Florida State), both ranked among the Top 10 safeties in next month's draft.
