Seahawks Over/Under Win Totals: Seattle Set to Beat the Odds?

The Seattle Seahawks have had a great offseason, but will they be over or under their projected win total in 2023?

The Seattle Seahawks have had a good offseason. The franchise has added weapons on offense via the draft in recevier Jaxon Smith-Njigba and running back Zach Charbonnet while adding star corner Devon Witherspoon to the defense.

But is that enough for the Seahawks to go over their current projected win total for next season, which currently sits at 8.5 per DraftKings.

CBS Sports thinks so and has Seattle again ending the regular season with a 9-8 record.

"Definitely expected the Seahawks to be a little higher in terms of projected wins. But maybe they're the quintessential grinder team," CBS writes. "3-1 is definitely doable ahead of an early Week 5 bye if Geno Smith runs it back one more year. "

In an NFC West with the rebuilding Arizona Cardinals, the toss-up Los Angeles Rams and the rampaging San Francisco 49ers, at least Seattle is the only challenger to coach Kyle Shanahan's unit.

Of course, much will depend on if quarterback Geno Smith can replicate his 4,282 passing yard 30 touchdown Pro-Bowl season from last year, but with the offensive additions, it is plausible. Smith now has a trio of star-studded receivers in D.K. Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Smith-Njigba, along with a running back duo of Kenneth Walker III and Charbonnet, so Seattle can hit you either in the air or on the ground.

Seattle had the ninth-best offense last season for points scored per game (23.9), with the defense struggling, allowing 23.6 points a game (ranked 25th).

So, there is room for improvement for the Seahawks on both sides of the ball, and if the season plays out as some hope, it will be back-to-back postseason appearances for the first time in Smith's career.
