Bud Dupree Leaves Steelers Visit Without Deal

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Bud Dupree did not sign a deal during his meeting.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted former first-round pick Bud Dupree for a visit, but the outside linebacker left the facility without a deal, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Gerry Dulac.

According to Dulac, Dupree underwent a physical and met with the staff but no contract details were discussed yet. The team still views him as a backup to T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith, but the dance between the free agent and the Steelers has been reported for over a week now.

Reports claim the Steelers are testing Dupree's health before deciding on their approach. After two years in Tennessee, playing just 22 games, it feels like the perfect fit for the veteran to return to Pittsburgh.

As Steelers beat writer Mark Kaboly pointed out, not many players leave a visit with the team without a deal. Now that the Steelers have Dupree's medical evaluation, the two sides could be on the verge of a deal.
