Steelers to Add Another Safety

The Pittsburgh Steelers have their sights on another defensive back.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are still concerned about their safety position. After re-signing Damontae Kazee but losing Terrell Edmunds to the Philadelphia Eagles, the team wants to add another member to the room before the season.

Head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters during the League Meetings that he expects the team to add at least one more safety during free agency or the NFL Draft. He has also had conversations with Patrick Peterson about dropping back during the season.

"He’s versatile, not only in terms of his talents but his intellect. We’re not going to be bashful about moving him around. He’s excited about the prospects," Tomlin said, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Gerry Dulac.

In recent mock drafts, the Steelers have been labeled a landing spot for Alabama's Brian Branch. They also spent this past weekend at Penn State's Pro Day, where Ji'Ayir Brown performed.

Names like Jammie Robinson and Antonio Johnson have also been linked to Pittsburgh.

Behind Kazee and Minkah Fitzpatrick, the Steelers currently have Tre Norwood and Miles Killebrew. Killebrew should maintain a roster spot due to his special teams skills, but Norwood could be viewed as a bubble player this summer.
