Former Steelers WR Antonio Brown to Make Arena League Debut

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Antonio Brown is headed back to the football field.

PITTSBURGH -- Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown is set to return to the football field this weekend as he suits up for his own Arena League team, the Albany Empire.

Brown made the announcement a little over a week ago that he plans to suit up for the Empire this season. With a 1-4 record, he's no longer waiting, announcing through a ticket ad that he will be in uniform for the team's game against the Fayetteville Mustangs.

The seven-time Pro Bowler hasn't played competitively for over a year now, last suiting up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, and walking out during a game just after the turn of the new year.

In his final NFL season, he caught 42 passes for 545 yards and four touchdowns.

Brown brings seven 1,000-yard seasons with him to the Arena League and could quickly become the league's most dominant player if his NFL play carries over.

Some reports have also claimed he's been talking with Cam Newton about joining him on the team. His debut this weekend could make the difference in those discussions.
