Report: Steelers Lose Terrell Edmunds in Free Agency

Terrell Edmunds has informed the Pittsburgh Steelers he's leaving.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers will now have to replace Terrell Edmunds, who has told the team he is signing elsewhere in free agency, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Gerry Dulac.

Edmunds sent out a goodbye to the Steelers, thanking his coaches, teammates and the fans on social media.

The 26-year-old has been hunting a bigger deal the last two offseasons, and now appears to have found one. He re-signed with the Steelers last spring on a one-year deal, and was likely an option to do so again this year if he didn't get another offer.

The strong safety has started 75 games for Pittsburgh the last five years, recording 410 tackles, five interceptions and 26 pass deflections. This past season, he recorded 70 tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss and five pass deflections.

The Steelers will likely look to add a third safety to run with Minkah Fitzpatrick and Damontae Kazee.
