Steelers Sign XFL WR Hakeem Butler

The Pittsburgh Steelers add another XFL star.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing XFL wide receiver, Hakeem Butler, to their 90-man roster, according to The 33rd Team's Ari Meirov.

Butler played for the St. Louis Battlehawks this spring, catching 51 passes for 599 yards and a league-leading eight touchdowns. The former fourth-round draft pick in 2019 last played for the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL.

He was selected by the Arizona Cardinals and has also spent time on the Carolina Panthers and in the Canadian Football League with the BC Lions and Edmonton Elks.

Butler was expected to be in attendance for rookie minicamp but he was not on the roster. Instead, he'll join the team in OTAs and minicamp, beginning his tryout for a 53-man roster spot.

Butler will compete with Miles Boykin, Gunner Olszewski, Anthony Miller, Ja'Marcus Bradley, Dan Chisena, Dez Fitzpatrick, Cody White and Jordan Bryd in training camp.
