Steelers Very Impressed With UNC WR Josh Downs

The Pittsburgh Steelers could be moving North Carolina wideout Josh Downs up their draft board.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are deep into the recruiting trail, and during a stop at North Carolina, representatives of the team had very strong words about wide receiver Josh Downs.

Downs spoke with the media following his Pro Day workout and said the Steelers were one of a few teams who showed up to watch his workouts, and they couldn't be more impressed.

"The Steelers and a few other teams came up to me and told me that I had one of the cleanest workouts they've seen in the past few years," Downs said.

Reports claim all 32 teams were in attendance for Downs Pro Day. The UNC wideout is expected to be a Day 2 pick, and could be on Pittsburgh's radar come pick 32, 49 or 80.

"I laid down very good times and I had very good routes," Downs said. "... Basically, just confirming what they were showing me."

The Steelers have scouted a few wide receivers during their Pro Day adventures, but they have not had reports say they thought this highly of any of them. With two North Carolina players (Mitch Trubisky and Cole Holcomb) already on the roster, they could be looking to add a third next month.
