Steelers Will Turn to Old Foe to Help Earn Playoff Spot

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be rooting for their old enemy this weekend.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are turning their faith to an old foe to help them get into the playoff picture in Week 18. The New York Jets, who the Steelers need to beat the Miami Dolphins this weekend, are starting Joe Flacco as their quarterback for their season finale, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic.

With the Jets' playoff hopes ending in Week 17 and major question marks to their quarterback position coming this offseason, they'll turn to Flacco to retake the starting job. Mike White has been ruled out and Zach Wilson will operate as the backup.

Flacco is 1-2 as the team's starter this season, beating the Cleveland Browns and losing to the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals. He threw for 902 yards and five touchdowns to three interceptions and had a four-touchdown game against the Browns.

The Steelers need the Jets to win and the Buffalo Bills to beat the New England Patriots this week. If they then win against the Browns at Acrisure Stadium, their miracle run continues as they're playoff-bound.

All three games will be played at 1 p.m. ET.
