Defensive End Tracy Sprinkle Claimed Off of Waivers by the Houston Texans

Patrick D. Starr

The Houston Texans have claimed defensive end Tracy Sprinkle off of waivers from the Cleveland Browns. The Texans are looking for defensive line help currently with J.J. Watt, D.J. Reader, and Carlos Watkins all dealing with health issues.

Sprinkle rejuvenated his career after playing in the now-defunct Alliance of American Football league for the Atlanta Legends. In 8 games with the Legends, Sprinkle had 11 total tackles, with five quarterback sacks and five quarterback hits.

Sprinkle was not drafted after the 2018 NFL Draft out of Ohio State and signed a rookie free-agent contract with the Carolina Panthers. Released before the start of the season, Sprinkle also participated in the Kansas City Chiefs rookie mini-camp this season but did not land a contract.

Sprinkle spent time with the Cleveland Browns during training camp but was just released. That allowed the Texans to claim him to help out a defensive line that needs some pass-rushing presence.
