Houston Texans Sign Center Nick Martin to a Three-Year $33 Million Extension
Patrick D. Starr
The Houston Texans have extended their starting center Nick Martin with a three-year extension with $33 million and $18.35 million guaranteed. Martin was entering his final year of his rookie deal with the Texans and now he will be in the fold for the near future.
Martin was a second round selection out of Notre Dame in the 2016 NFL Draft and has been the Texans starting center since he arrived. His rookie season was cut short by an injury during training camp and he sat out the entire 2016 season.
Appearing in 30 regular season games with 30 starts, Martin has only played one full season as a starter in 2018. The Texans have showed plenty of faith in Martin despite up and down play during his tenure with the team.
With the deal Martin is now the 4th highest paid center in the NFL.
