The Houston Texans signed cornerback Cornell Armstrong from the practice squad to the active roster. Armstrong was added to the 53-man roster a day prior to their game with the Oakland Raiders. The Texans have been looking for help at the cornerback position especially in coverage to help the defense.

Armstrong was part of the Texans' original 53-man roster when the season started in week one but was released due to needs at other positions. Armstrong has been on the Texans practice squad since that point waiting for his opportunity to be called up to the active roster.

Armstrong was 6th-round selection out of Southern Miss by the Dolphins during the 2018 NFL Draft. He appeared in 15 games and posted eight tackles on special teams.
