According to Walter Football, Baylor University cornerback Demetri Goodson met with the Houston Texans at the NFL Combine. At 5-11 and 194 lbs. the former Gonzaga basketball player turned football player was a Baylor cornerback for the past three seasons.
Arriving in Waco prior to the 2011 season, Goodson played for the Bears before injuring his ankle that made him miss the remaining eight games of the season. Injuries plagued him again in 2012 when he broke his arm which required surgery and kept him out for the remainder of the season. Goodson and Baylor applied for a hardship waiver that the NCAA granted and he made the most of his opportunity starting 10 games in 2013.
Goodson totaled 26 total tackles with 3 interceptions and 15 pass deflections which garnered him honorable mention All Big 12 honors.
Considered a height and weight prospect, Goodson will be a 25-year-old rookie when the season starts in 2014. With the NFL looking for bigger cornerbacks, Goodson will get some looks from NFL teams.
His brother is Michael Goodson, who played for the Carolina Panthers, Oakland Raiders and the New York Jets.
