Dwight Jones Potential Target for the Texans
Patrick D. Starr
According to Optimum Scouting, the Houston Texans have started their look at arguably the best wide receiver at the Senior Bowl, Dwight Jones from the University of North Carolina. With a deep wide receiver class in Mobile, Alabama, Jones appears to be one of the top prospects of the group. The scouts try to talk to everyone, but it is good to see Jones being evaluated by the Texans scouting department. One of the biggest weaknesses of the Texans in 2011 was the lack of playmaking ability at the wide receiver position.
Jones is 6'3" 226 lbs. target and has a history with Texans quarterback T.J. Yates. Jones had 85 catches for 1196 yards and 12 touchdowns his senior season, and put himself on the map for the 2012 NFL Draft. He is a fluid route runner, but he still seems to be feeling the process out at the Senior Bowl, hopefully he will come out of his shell in the coming days.
He has the makings for a good NFL wide receiver, but he might be a late 1st round to early 2nd round selection. He has been available in mock drafts for the Texans at #26 around the internet, but there is plenty of time left for other players to impress the Texans.
