Texans 'No' On DeAndre Hopkins Leading to Signing with Deshaun Watson's Browns?

The Houston Texans are reportedly not interested in landing wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, which could lead to a reunion with quarterback Deshaun Watson in Cleveland.

HOUSTON — All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is the biggest name on the free agency market.

The Arizona Cardinals released Hopkins after three seasons on May 26. And over the previous week, rumors have linked Hopkins to nearly every team in the league, which includes the Houston Texans.

There are no indications of which team has the most interest in Hopkins. But according to KPRC Houston Friday morning, the Texans are not expected to pursue the veteran wide receiver and the franchise has not had a meeting despite Hopkins' interest.

KPRC added that the Cleveland Browns could make an attempt to sign Hopkins, which would reunite him with quarterback Deshaun Watson.

"We would love to have him," Watson said. “He knows that. We had a lot of connections, but that’s kind of out of my range of things, of kind of coordinating things. So all I can do is make a call and see what happens and let [general manager Andrew Berry] do the rest."

As teammates with the Texans, Hopkins and Watson were one of the best quarterback-wide receiver duos in the league. They played in 38 games together in Houston and recorded 24 victories. But since their break-up in March 2020, the Texans have embarked on a rebuild.

In addition to the Browns, the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs could make a move for Hopkins. The soon-to-be 31-year-old wideout ended his tenure with the Cardinals catching 221 passes for 2,696 yards and 17 touchdowns.
