Houston Texans Justin Reid Says the Carolina Panthers Improved as a Team by Signing His Brother

Houston Texans rookie safety Justin Reid received some good news this morning, learning that his brother Eric has signed a deal with the Carolina Panthers. Eric Reid has had a long wait to get back on an NFL team, notably when hejoined friend Colin Kaepernick with his focused and non-violent protests during the National Anthem.

Justin Reid took time to discuss his brother signing with the Panthers.

“This new opportunity showed up and he is going to be able to advantage of it,” Reid said of his brother. “The Panthers just got a whole lot better, their team just got better with him on their squad. It is good for their organization and it is good for him.”

Reid has watched his brother and stood alongside him since his peaceful protests occurred and the younger Reid has watched teams pass over his brother time and time again before today. Not wanting to get into the reasons for teams passing over his brother, Reid knows that his brother was waiting for the opportunity when things finally worked out with a team.

“It has just been a journey for him,” Justin Reid explained. “He has been out of the league for a little while, he has been up with his fitness, and been consistently prepared for when this opportunity did come. I know that he did have a chance to go to the Titans but that didn’t work out.”
