NFL Draft: Texans Have Formal Meeting With Florida QB Anthony Richardson

The Houston Texans have met with quarterback prospect Anthony Richardson from Florida during the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine.

The Houston Texans have met with each of the top quarterback prospects at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine. While speaking to the media Friday morning, Florida's quarterback Anthony Richardson revealed he has met with the Texans.

Richardson said the meeting with general manager Nick Caserio was "informative" while getting to know him as a person.

Richardson is entering the draft as an intriguing prospect. He embodies the dual-threat quarterback of the modern day, throwing for 2,549 passing yards and 17 touchdowns for the Florida Gators last season. He also rushed for 654 yards and nine touchdowns.

With the Texans holding the No. 2 pick, the consensus has Houston taking Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud. But Caserio will not be one-track minded when it comes to selecting Houston's next franchise quarterback

"You’re making decisions based on what you think is best for your organization and your team,” said Caserio. Right now, we have 11 draft picks, so call it 10 to 12 draft picks. Then, however many players we sign after free agency."

The Texans have met with each of the top quarterbacks, which includes Stroud, Young and Will Levis. Richardson also mentioned he met with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots.
