Texans Coach Bobby Slowik: Niners Ex Moves From Penthouse to Outhouse?

If Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik thought coaching three starting quarterbacks in one year was tough, wait until he really gets started trying to help turn around his new team.

The Houston Texans are going to be one of the more interesting franchises to watch in the coming NFL season for several reasons.

Of course, at the top of most lists will be rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud who many speculated the Texans may not even draft in the days leading up to the first round of this year's NFL Draft.

But there's also the coach, and we're not talking about DeMeco Ryans.

"Bobby Slowik will run the show with the Houston Texans after being the passing game coordinator for the San Francisco 439ers," writes 33rd Team as it identifies Houston's offensive coordinator as one of the most interesting coaching storylines this year. "It will be interesting to compare what he did in San Francisco to what he's expected to do in Houston."

Slowik has plenty of familiarity with teams in transition after helping coach the San Francisco 49ers through shifts at quarterback from Trey Lance to Jimmy Garoppolo and then on to Brock Purdy.

The end result was an eventual trip to the NFC Championship game where quarterback misfortune finally caught up with coach Slowik and the 49ers.

"Slowik came from San Francisco where there was a wealth of assets around him," 33rd Team continues. "Now, he goes to Houston where he gets handed rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud and an unproven group of playmakers ... I love the contrast in his job from one year to the next. That's what draws me to watch what he does in Houston."

And it's just one more thing that will keep the Texans an interesting topic of conversation for the next 12 months or more.
