Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud Hopes To Build 'Deeper' Houston Texans Relationship

HOUSTON — The Houston Texans did their due diligence by meeting with each prominent prospect at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine. But the Texans' meetings with C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young were the most important.
Stroud revealed Friday morning that his meeting with the Texans "went really well" and it appears Houston, headlined by general manager Nick Caserio, left a great first impression on Ohio State's quarterback.
"I’m looking forward to going deeper and deeper and building a relationship with them," Stroud said. "They asked me some questions, and I feel like I did really well in the interview process with them. I got to meet everybody in their front office and had a great conversation."
Stroud said he spent most of the interview illustrating his personality. He described himself as a quarterback who can control the room with his leadership.
The Texans have the capital to improve their franchise through the draft. And with the No. 2 pick, Houston will likely look to Stroud to upgrade their quarterback room.
Stroud finished his college career throwing for 8,123 yards while completing 69.3 percent of his passes for 85 touchdowns and a dozen interceptions in three seasons at Ohio State.
The description of Stroud's meeting with the Texans was similar to the depiction of Florida's quarterback Anthony Richardson, who gave a solid performance after meeting in Houston. The Texans also met with Young and Kentucky's Will Levis.
