The Houston Texans released cornerback Xavier Crawford a day before their game against the Oakland Raiders to make room for cornerback Cornell Armstrong. The Miami Dolphins claimed the Texans cornerback on Monday, making him part of their 53-man roster, and the move will become official on Tuesday.

Crawford appeared in two games for the Texans, with most of his work coming on special teams. He has made two special teams tackles to this point on coverage teams.

Selected in the 6th round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Central Michigan. Crawford has not been looked to on defense to help in coverage issues for the secondary. The Texans pulled the plug on a draft pick in Crawford and is the first of the 2019 draft class not to make it through the season.
