Tonight might be one of the most interesting games for the Houston Texans this preseason, and with the position battles still going on the game has taken new meaning. Players will be putting their best foot forward tonight to impress the Texans and maybe one of the other 31 teams that will see the film. Fans should be intrigued by the end of the preseason because players who snaps were limited in the first three games, will put in all on the line tonight.
There are numbers tonight that will be meaningful in tonight's contest against the Minnesota Vikings and they will help shape the 2011 Houston Texans as we know.
4- As in September 4th when NFL teams need to be at the 53 man roster deadline.
26- Houston Texans players in unifrom tonight will not be on the active roster when the cut down day arrives.
8- Practice squad positions are up for grabs, but all might not be on the Texans roster as of now.
16- I don't know where he fits into the Texans right now, but Trindon Holliday needs a BIG night to stay with the team.
20- Steve Slaton returns tonight and has an outside chance to make the squad with Arian Foster's hamstring injury. Slaton was having a great camp until a hamstring injury sidelined him too.
50- For Bryan Braman, it is time for him to make this team because he will be getting plenty of snaps to prove he belongs in Houston. Despite his breakout game against the New York Jets, Braman has been quiet since.
79- Cody Wallace has a chance to make his mark on the team with a good showing tonight. The versatile lineman will be center stage for a depleted line.
36- It will be Roc Carmichael's first game as a Texan and his first action in some time since inujring his shoulder early in training camp. It will be interesting in what the Texans decide to do with Carmichael when cut down day arrives.
89- Bryant Johnson makes his Texans debut after being signed to a one year deal. The door is open for him to be the 4th receiver on the team, he gets his chance tonight.
47- One of the most intriguing signings of the Texans in the free agency period. Lawrence Vickers is spending most of his time on special teams and the second team offense. I would like to see him with a bigger role on the team, but his role on the team in unclear as of now.
