Raiders Jon Gruden Called It a "Tough Decision" to Trade Gareon Conley to the Houston Texans

The Oakland Raiders have addressed the trade of cornerback Gareon Conley to the Houston Texans. Raiders head coach Jon Gruden announced on Monday to the media that the trade was complete with the Texans.

"One quick announcement, we did trade cornerback Gareon Conley to the Houston Texans," Gruden said of the trade.

Gruden continued, "It was a tough decision, obviously, and we certainly wish Gareon the best, good young player. We do have some young corners that we drafted Trayvon Mullen. We have Isaiah Johnson coming back soon Keisean Nixon, Nevin Lawson is back. We want to look at some younger players and wish Gareon the best. Thank him for his contribution."

The Raiders cited that they wanted to get a look at their younger cornerbacks despite Conley being only 24-years of age himself. Only three years into his NFL career, Conley will be getting a much-needed change of scenery to attempt to rejuvenate his career.

In 6 games for the Raiders in 2019, Conley has 23 total tackles, two passes defended, and an interception.

The Texans traded the 2020 third-round selection they received from the Seattle Seahawks in the Jadeveon Clowney trade to acquire Conley.
