"I Thought I Was Going to be in Houston" Seahawks Jadeveon Clowney Opens Up On His Exit From The Houston Texans
Seattle Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney took part in NFL Network Ian Rapoport's RapSheet+ Friends Podcast. Clowney asked plenty of questions regarding his current situation in Seattle, but questions on his exit from the Houston Texans came up.
There has been plenty of mystery surrounding the exit of Clowney and Texans head coach Bill O'Brien said many things regarding the pass rusher but one of his last comments on why they traded him.
"I would say that in the end, we just could not come to an agreement on a long-term deal," according to O'Brien.
Clowney has kept quiet for the most part, but he finally talked about the exit from Houston.
Clowney was ready to report to camp with two weeks left in training camp, but that is when, according to him, O'Brien told him that his days with the Texans were done.
When Did You Know You Played Your Last Down In Houston?
JC: Oh, probably like to two weeks before the season started. I thought I was going to be in Houston and then the last call to get ready to go in for training camp like two weeks before. Bill O'Brien was like, "We are trading you." I was just like, "Oh, okay." Well, I will hold off on signing now cause I don't know where I'm getting traded to. Because he was like, we don't know we were going to send you yet, but we are going to trade you.
Miami, Seattle, or Philadelphia for Clowney?
JC: Miami Yeah, I didn't want to go. Send me to a team that has a chance to win. And when I hear about Seattle, Philly, also, of course, I want to go. I've got guys on both teams I've played with before. I would have loved to play for either one of the teams. So anyone of them would have worked for me.
The Night Clowney Was Sent to Seattle
JC: So that's when I got the call that night, the night before I got traded. They were like. You will be up here in the morning. Just get ready, and I packed that night. I packed my stuff and headed up there, but nobody said anything about a deal until the next day.
If Clowney Cared if Anyone Saw Him Flying to Seattle
JC: I didn't really care that time because I was glad it was getting over with as far as where I was getting traded to. I took a private flight to Seattle nobody saw me. Unless it was at the private airport place where we took off at but the guys in Seattle that came and got me.
On if Clowney Knows Why it Did Not Work Out in Houston
JC: Nobody knows, me either. I don't even know. I don't even care no more.
