Jurrell Casey can now take part in training camp practices
Jurrell Casey is ready to go.
The Tennessee Titans removed their Pro Bowl defensive lineman from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list after he passed a physical and was cleared for full activity. The move was part of a flurry of roster activity Saturday.
Casey had been sidelined since the start of training camp while he continued to recover from surgery to repair a knee injury that caused him to miss the final game of the 2018 regular season.
The 29-year-old has been to the Pro Bowl each of the last four seasons. He has led the Titans or tied for the team lead in sacks three times in the last six seasons, including last year when he had 10. A third-round pick in 2011, he is eighth on the franchise’s career sacks list with 46.
With his return to the active roster, Casey will be able to take part in this week’s joint workouts with the New England Patriots (Wednesday and Thursday) and will be available for Saturday’s preseason contest with the Patriots at LP Field (6 p.m., WKRN-TV Ch. 2).
Casey was one of three players placed on the PUP list at the start of training camp. The others, kicker Ryan Succop and tight end Jonnu Smith, have yet to be cleared to participate in workouts.
