Taywan Taylor on track to return for Titans this Sunday

For the past two weeks, wide receiver Taywan Taylor has been questionable on the final injury report with a foot injury, only to be downgraded to out on the day before the game. That happened two weeks ago in Indianapolis and again before Monday night's loss in Houston. For Taylor, it has been an exercise in frustration trying to get back into the lineup after missing three straight games with the foot injury.

“I'm just trying to get comfortable. I haven't been out before. I haven't been used to missing games like that,” Taylor said.

Taylor initially sustained the injury late in the Titans' Monday night win against Dallas four weeks ago. He did not practice the first week after the injury and was limited in each of the past two games. But both Wednesday and Thursday, Taylor has been a full go, and says he believes he is finally ready to return to the Titans lineup this week against the New York Jets.

“I'm just trying to make sure I'm comfortable with my motions and getting my range back and things like that. Everything feels great,” Taylor said. “The trainers have been doing some great stuff with me. I think I'm making good progress so I can be ready to go on Sunday.”

Taylor has 21 catches this season for 242 yards and one touchdown reception. Tajae Sharpe, himself limited with an ankle injury for the past few weeks, has moved into the starting lineup in Taylor's stead, and some of the snaps Taylor would have gotten have gone to rookie Cameron Batson of late.

As for a full Titans injury report, linebacker Will Compton, who missed time earlier in the year with a hamstring injury, was back on the injury report Thursday, listed as limited due to the hamstring. Rookie safety Dane Cruikshank was also listed as out with a knee injury that has bothered him off and on for a few weeks. Cruikshank was out of Monday night's game vs. the Texans. Running back David Fluellen, who has been out since the Patriots game with a knee injury, was held out of Thursday's work. He returned to practice in a limited capacity Wednesday.

Those listed as full participants on Thursday included quarterback Marcus Mariota (abdomen), cornerback Malcolm Butler (concussion), cornerback Adoree' Jackson (knee), guard Josh Kline (shoulder), tackle Taylor Lewan (ankle) and Sharpe (ankle).
