Wide receiver DeAngelo Yancey, who spent part of the 2019 preseason with the Tennessee Titans, was one of the top selections on the first day of the XFL draft.

The New York Guardians selected Yancey third overall Monday during the skill positions portion of the draft for the fledgling league. The first of two days of player selections also included an offensive line portion and a defensive front portion. Each of the three consisted of 10 rounds.

In all, six players with connections to the Titans, including two of the franchise’s 2015 draft picks, were chosen. The six were spread among five of the league’s eight teams.

Defensive end Deiontrez Mount, a sixth-round pick by Tennessee in 2015, went to the Tampa Bay Vipers with the last pick of the second round of the defensive front seven phase. Wide receiver Tre McBride, a seventh-round Titans pick that same year, was the last pick of the second round of the skill players portion by the DC Defenders. Mount (pictured) appeared in four games for Tennessee as a rookie and later saw action with Indianapolis (2016) and Denver (2017). McBride caught 10 passes in nine games over two seasons with Tennessee (2015-16) before he spent a season in Chicago.

Yancey’s time in Tennessee was brief. The Titans signed him on Aug. 10 and released him three weeks later when NFL rosters were reduced the regular season limit of 53 players. He played just four snaps in the preseason finale against Chicago and did not catch a pass. Yancey was a fifth-round pick by Green Bay out of Purdue in 2017 but never has appeared in an NFL regular season contests.

Tight end Cole Wick caught five passes for 57 yards in the preseason before he was cut. The Vipers chose him in the sixth round of the skill positions draft. Another tight end Jace Amaro who played three games for Tennessee in 2016, went to the Seattle Dragons with the fourth pick in the fourth round.

Linebacker Gimel President, who spent time with the Titans in the last two training camps, was seventh-round choice in the defensive front seven draft by the St. Louis BattleHawks.
