Handshakes and fist bumps are customary between former players and current players, especially when the franchise is honoring one of its best players.
On Saturday, Bobby Nystrom was honored before the Islanders' 6-4 loss to St. Louis. He went down the bench, shaking hands and bumping fists with coaches and players, but when forward Anders Lee extended his fist, but Nystrom instead acknowledged Matt Martin:
Lee, realizing he was a little late to get his glove up, handles it just about as well as anyone else would. Hockey players: they're just like you and me.
